Welcome to Port Townsend, Washington. This is the street I live on.

Wow, okay. It’s been an eventful March so far! Since I last wrote:

I started to get settled into an interesting and beautiful new city and state.
I moved into a gorgeous apartment.
I’ve been thrifting about five or six days a week, furnishing said apartment.
I’ve got a kitchen of my own again and I love it.
My partner and I have been baking almost every day (lots of peanut butter cookies and bread, but a few other more interesting things, too)
I’ve done a little sewing, a little drawing, and tackled a few little projects around the home.

…And all of that is very exciting for me and I’m eager to share lots of new stuff with you. But before I do, there’s something more important.

Breakfast.

I had really fallen off the breakfast bandwagon in the past few years–I used to love breakfast and go out of my way to eat something every morning: toast, cereal, fruit… leftovers, something–but since leaving my job I’d been severely lacking a morning routine. And I”m very happy to report that not only am I back on the bandwagon, but my partner is finally on board with breakfast, too. We’ve been starting every day with stone ground oats, which are easy and filling and pretty delicious!

And lately I’ve been wanting fruit to go with. It’s not berry season yet, but the other day I tried pan-roasting some chopped apples for about 10 minutes while the oats were cooking, and it was awesome.

Also, as much as I adore cheese and butter, I’ve never liked milk–until last year, when I tried raw milk for the first time. It’s so insanely creamy, what’s not to like? Unfortunately, raw milk is illegal in Wisconsin; but out here, it’s legal and available right at the food co-op! So I highly recommend a little splash of raw milk in the oatmeal, now, too.

To sum up: I’m back, breakfast is back, and hopefully more exciting stuff–even more exciting than oatmeal!–will be soon to come.
